Putting the pipes back into Moller opus # 11708

  1. Can you please explain what "Moller opus #11708" means? I get the "Moller" part, but what about the rest?

  2. I think the word opus means something between "opening" and "birth". Of course you often hear this word in connection with a composer's works. For example Brahm's symphony number one, opus #3, which means that although this work was his first symphony, he composed two other works prior to it. In Moller's case it simply means that our organ was the eleven thousand seven hundred eighth organ built by his company. The number 11708 is displayed in the console under M.P. Moller's signature but it is also found stamped in numerous places on various pieces of the organ casework and structure. I imagine that Moller employees were building multiple organs simultaneously and this is how they kept the pieces together.
